Lionel the lion.

This candle holder is inspired by Staffordshire Spill vases. Originally a spill vase was used to hold spills, thin wooden sticks or tightly curled bits of paper used to transfer fire from the hearth to light something else like a candle or a lamp.
.
My versions are transformed into candle holders but could also be used to place a small posy of flowers in. Lionel is having a little rub up against a cactus tree on route to the jungle.

Hand built using White earthenware clay, painted in underglazes with oxides and gold luster.

This piece measures 16cms x 16cms and comes with a candle.
